The year long theme in third grade is Collections. Students share and explore new information to create collections of all kinds. Other themes that we discover throughout the year are Geology Rocks!, Patterns All Around Us, The Science of Sound, and Saint Paul: Then and Now.

Students in third grade learn about different references for finding information. Students investigate maps, newspapers, magazines, charts, brochures, atlases, almanacs, dictionaries, and several other non-fiction genres. The students are also involved in year-long inquiry projects where they work on questioning strategies, gathering information, and sharing their discoveries.
