All School Arts Residencies at Linwood Monroe Arts Plus
Linwood Monroe Arts Plus has received $51,000 from the MN State Arts Board funding residencies for each student in our school during the 2011-12 school year. We are the only school in St Paul to receive a State Arts Board Grant this year.
The following are the teaching artists selected to work with our students this year:
Kindergarten: 10 day Folk Music & Literacy residency with Ross Sutter in December. Gathering Performance will be at our Linwood Campus on December 16th.
1st Grade: 10 day Visual Arts residency with Susan Armington in January. Gathering Performance & Exhibit will be at our Linwood Campus on January 20th.
2nd Grade: 10 day Folktales, Masks & Drama residency with Rhonda Lund in November. Gathering Performance will be at our Linwood Campus on Wednesday, November 23rd.
3rd Grade: 10 day Indonesian Dance & Culture residency with Tri Strisno in collaboration with the 8th grade Gamelan residency in October & November. Gathering Performances in the big gym at Monroe on November 4th at 10:30am & 3:00pm.
4th grade: 15 day Opera residency with Composer Stephen Houtz, Technical Design Artist Malia Burkhardt and Linwood Monroe Teachers. Students create & perform an original Opera in January/February. Performances will be in the auditorium at Monroe in the evening on February 9th and 2 daytime performances on February 10th.
5th Grade: 10 day American Indian Dance/Cultural Studies residency with Larry Yazzie in January.
Gathering Performance will be at our Monroe Campus on January 20th.
6th Grade: 10 day Theater residency with T Mychael Rambo in November. Gathering Performance will be at our Monroe Campus on Tuesday, November 22nd.
7th Grade: 15 day Mural residency with Marilyn Lindstrom in December. Gathering Exhibit will be bat our Monroe Campus on Thursday, December 22nd.
8th Grade: 10 day Indonesian Gamelan residency with Joko Sustrisno in collaboration with the 3rd grade Indonesian residency in October & November. Gathering Performances in the big gym at Monroe on November 4th at 10:30am & 3:00pm
NEW THIS YEAR: Each grade level will host a “studio day” when family members may come to school and join in the arts learning for a day with their child. Each grade level will send home information on upcoming “studio days” for each arts residency.
